After reports that Kanye West was given four whole minutes at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards to do whatever he damn well pleases, the Chi-Town rapper did…just that…and also presented his video for “Fade” featuring Teyana Taylor.
The video features the musician writhing on the floor in workout clothes in a scene reminiscent to Flashdance, before a shower scene involving Taylor and boo Iman Shumpert brought the heat.
Before the video’s premiere, an impassioned speech about having fun, being inspired by the present and the future and ultimately being inspired by himself lead off the highly-anticipated appearance by Mr. West.
“We are undeniably the influence, the thought leaders,” he told the packed crowd, before acknowledging his current favorites, including Chance The Rapper and Diddy.
How does the rapper feel about his chances to win “Video Of The Year”?
“‘Famous’ might lose to Beyonce, but I can’t be mad, I’m always wishing for Beyonce to win!” he said to laughter from the packed crowd.
