Kim Kardashian, Chris Brown, Nelly, YG, Big Sean and of course Kanye West were all in attendance for the official listening party of Teyana Taylor’s debut album, VII. The crowd gathered to support the G.O.O.D/Def Jam artist last night in Los Angeles. Attendees previewed the 12-track project, which includes two bonus tracks on the deluxe edition. According to MTV, West was so enthused that halfway through the listening session he grabbed the mic and gave a heartfelt speech. Unlike his turn up for Pusha-T, Yeezy toned it down, expressing the need for Teyana’s sound in the mainstream. “I feel like Teyana provides something that is so R&B, so black, so hood, so missing, so necessary in the marketplace,” he said. “Sometimes I don’t talk in the most politically correct whatever the type way, but I felt like I ain’t really express how proud I was, of this person, of this human being, that had the fight of this artist that’s fighting to make something that she really feels, that really connects in this generation.” Watch the rest of his speech above.
