If you’re in the New York City area, now would be a good time to head down to Times Square. Kanye West is scheduled to perform for U2’s surprise (well not anymore) concert for World AIDS Day tonight (Dec. 1).
While Bono will not be on-hand for his band’s appearance, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Bruce Springsteen will be performing alongside the remaining members of U2 for the special event. Bono is unable to perform due to an injury. Carrie Underwood is also on tonight’s bill.
“We wouldn’t be at this point without American leadership, people from the left and the right,” Bono said from Dublin. “Today, 13 million people have access to life-saving treatment, up from 300,000 just over ten years ago. Americans don’t know the role they’ve played in this fight. Tonight’s event is to inform them and thank them.”
The concert kicks off at 7:30 pm. Luckily, if you aren’t able to make a shotgun trip to Times Square, watch the performance here.
