Kanye West’s unveiling of Yeezy Season 4 took many detours on Wednesday (Sept. 7.)
The artist and his “multiracial” roster of models were on Roosevelt Island for all to see in nude and camouflage pieces. Fans got to take a look into the show once again, thanks to Tidal. The company was home to the premieres of “Fade” featuring Teyana Taylor and the Yeezy Season 3 collection in February. Speaking with Vogue before the big revealing, Kanye explained the meaning behind his casting call for “multiracial women only,” a demand that didn’t go too well on social media. The rapper claimed he didn’t mean to cause any ill-intent with his wording.
“The ten thousand people that showed up didn’t have a problem with it,” West said. “How do you word the idea that you want all variations of black? How do you word that exactly?
Despite the controversy, women of all shades appeared in the show. The catwalk featured Chanel Iman and Teyana Taylor while many other models stood in the heat for a number of hours.

Some models took a seat on the front lawn of Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park during the nearly two-hour show. Assistants were seen on live stream handing out bottles of water during the show. The heat also got to model Amina Blue, who became the source of laughter and “Oh, honey” tweets when she was seen taking off her plastic kitten heels on the runway. She later returned to own the catwalk in sandals, but it was too late.

When it comes to the fashion aspect of it all, Kanye just wants to make legendary apparel. “I want to make pieces that can be timeless,” he said. “Pieces that you can pick up out of a vintage store in 20 years and say, ‘Wow, I’m happy I have this.’ ”
Twitter thought otherwise and proceeded to compare the pieces to his previous efforts (amongst other things.)
