Detroit’s own Kash Doll recently released visuals for her latest track, “For Everybody” — and it takes a page from Hype Williams’ 1998 classic Belly</em>. This time, the issue of infidelity is the main topic here.
The DMX inspired video recreates the infamous scene where Keisha, DMX’s wife in the movie confronts his underage mistress after finding her number in his phone to give us a back and forth scenario where the side chick confronts wifey. Kash takes on the role of both characters here, so don’t get confused.
It’s a faithful recreation of the scene which allows Kash Doll’s bars to hit home even harder. The Motor City rapper explains to VIBE that she wanted to tell a story that many women can relate to.
“I wanted to tell a story that both types of women (wife and mistress) can relate to,” she said. “At the end of the day it’s not either one of women’s fault, it’s the man’s fault. They are both arguing about a position that he gave away and both women make good points. This is how I came up with the title for the song ‘For Everybody’, which means the man is for everybody.”
She adds,“ Belly is one of my favorite movies and I immediately thought it would be a great way to help tell the story.”
