Kehlani does it again. In anticipation of her upcoming debut album, SSS, the young songstress delivers us another track celebrating the golden years of R&B, sampling SWV’s “Use Your Heart” and giving us more motivation to love all that we are.
This track is extra special following, Solange’s album, A Seat At The Table, released earlier in the month. The theme of Solo’s album has a redolent air of similarity to Langston Hughes’s poem “I, Too,” encouraging black America to own and embrace their culture, and have a seat at the table that we made: for us, by us.
But, Kehlani’s “Table” represents a substantial counterpart to the discussion, encouraging all fellow “down to Mars chick[s]” to embrace what they are to the table in a relationship.
