
Kemba has pushed the reset button on his rap career and drops his first single under a new alias. For the unfamiliar, Kemba was formally known as YC The Cynic, a 25-year-old Bronx lyricist who has cut records with the likes of Mick Jenkins, Homeboy Sandman, and more. After establishing his new moniker, Kemba got together with producer Frank Drake to vent his theories and explain how he defines “the new black” in “The New Black Theory.”

The hook samples a famous bar from 2Pac’s “Dear Mama.” With fresh, mind-altering bars, the unique melodies of the song are just as provocative as the artwork for the record, which is a rare image of Raven Symone. The single comes in support of the first project he will drop under his new moniker called Negus. Look out for the mixtape coming July 22.
