While he didn’t walk away with the biggest award of the night, Kendrick Lamar won a total of five Grammy Awards last night (Feb. 15), including Best Rap Album for To Pimp A Butterfly. He also was one of the standout stars of the night with his politically charged, call-to-arms performance of “The Blacker The Berry” and “Alright,” which featured the rapper in shackles and concluded with a picture of Africa with Compton marked in the center.
The audience was on its feet by the conclusion of the over-seven minute set, and social media was blazing with reactions to K. Dot’s performance from notable celebrities such as Swizz Beatz, Justin Timberlake, Fabolous, Jidenna, Kobe Bryant and Taraji P. Henson.
I had to charge my phone so I am late but @kendricklamar !!!!!!!!!!!! WOW.
