
What do Kendrick Lamar and Tupac Shakur have the most in common? Is it the proximity of their birthdays? Their West Coast roots? Or is it their similar mindset? Lamar resurrected Tupac’s spirit for his To Pimp A Butterfly song, “Mortal Man,” by juxtaposing an old interview of Shakur’s with his own questions for the “California Love” rapper.

Website Konbini took it a step further by putting interview clips of the two rappers together into one video. Compare and contrast the views of Lamar and Shakur on the lyrics of rap music and their influences on life. Sure it might not be the real thing, but it’s as close as we’ll get without having TPAB‘s closing track on repeat.
