During a trip across the pond, Kendrick Lamar spoke to The Coveteur to discuss style and influence. He noted that he believes fashion can be impactful and that his shoe collaboration with Reebok is “a crazy feeling.” He also talked about how one of rap’s resident legends impacted his style growing up.
“Yeah, man, we was heavy,” he started. “That’s a real story like, we was just huge, still to this day, huge Lil Wayne fans. Lil Wayne is the greatest.”
The untitled, unmastered MC said that Weezy has not only influenced him musically, but also impacted the hip hop culture.
“It was a big part of what he was talking about, so we always hold Lil Wayne in high regards. Juvenile as well,” he said. “And yeah, it’s the impact of them man. To be a part of it the same way he was a part of it years later is just a great feeling.”
After catching wind of his high-profile fan, Lil Tunechi took to Twitter to thank Kendrick for being a day-one.
