Kendrick Lamar keeps on making major strides after the release of his critically-acclaimed album, To Pimp A Butterfly. The Compton rapper presided last night (Oct. 20) on the stage of Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center performing a couple of songs from the opus, with some assistance from the National Symphony Orchestra. Sporting cornrow braids with a black ensemble, K.Dot jammed out to “i,” “These Walls,” “Alright,” and “King Kunta.”
With the poignant truthful message TPAB details about the harsh realities of the black man’s plight in America, it’s no surprise Lamar has taken his lyrical prowess coupled with his musical talents to our nation capital’s most prominent stage. Not to mention the appeal he’s garnered even in the video game world with “King Kunta’s” remix Super Mario style.
