On music’s biggest night (Feb. 15), Kendrick Lamar electrified the crowd and viewers at home with his pivotal performance of “The Blacker The Berry” and “Alright.” But one melody, reportedly named “Untitled 3” sent waves across the ‘Net as to where the brand new track came from.
In an interview with Grammy.com, the “Swimming Pools” rapper revealed that he has a bevy of unreleased songs that didn’t make the final track list on To Pimp A Butterfly that he’s ready for listeners to dive into.
“I got a chamber of material from the album that I was in love [with] where sample clearances or something as simple as a deadline kept it off the album,” he said. “But I think probably close to ten songs that I’m in love with that I’ll still play and still perform that didn’t make the cut.”
The Compton native took home four gramophones for his TPAB project, which includes Best Rap Album, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “These Walls” alongside Thundercat, Anna Wise and Bilal, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Alright,” and received an award for Best Music Video, “Bad Blood,” with Taylor Swift.
