Since Feb. 2018, the “Tunnel Vision” artist has been facing two felony charges – one charge for possession of a firearm, ammunition, and another for possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. Those charges were recently dropped however, according to TMZ.
His year-sentence reportedly stems from probation violation charges of driving with a suspended license and associating with people engaged in criminal activity. He originally plead not guilty to all counts. Those charges were filed after Kodak – whose real name is Dieuson Octave – was arrested in Jan. 2018, after he shared an Instagram Live video of a child around handguns and weed. Previous charges of grand theft of a firearm, child neglect, and possession were also dropped earlier this year.
While 364 days seems like a long time, it’s possible that the rapper could be getting out sooner than we think. According to his lawyer Bradford Cohen, with time served, Kodak could be getting out as early as Sept. 17 of this year.
Kodak Black’s last project was Heartbreak Kodak, which he released from jail on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14). He is rumored to be working on a new album.
