DJ Khaled’s 2016 just got better after hip-hop queen Lauryn Hill extended her thanks to the Major Key artist and Nas for breathing new life into the Fugees classic “Fu-Gee-La.”
The track, which Khaled sampled on “Nas Album Done,” is a sentimental one for L. Boogie as she celebrates the 20th anniversary of The Score this year.
“I have fond memories of us and Salaam recording that song,” she penned on Apple Music. “My son, Zion, ironically laid his own thoughts down in verse on this same song recently. There must be something in the air.” She also sent her best wishes to the “We The Best” frontrunner as he prepares for the birth of his first child.
Overwhelmed with excitement, Khaled took to Instagram to share the major key moment with his fans. “Blessings to the Queen Ms Lauryn Hill,” he wrote while sending love to her son Zion and paying respect to Nas for his contribution on his ninth studio album.
Since its July 29 debut, Major Key has landed DJ Khaled his first number one on the Billboard 200 this week.
