Miami Heat’s star Lebron James has another gig lined up after the basketball season ends—the two time MVP recipient has officially signed on to promote Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins ice cream in Asia where the company has a third of its stores.
According to Huffington Post, “James will promote Dunkin’s brands in China, Taiwan, India and South Korea through advertisements, online media and in-store marketing.” In addition to participating in advertisements the former Cleveland Cavalier will also be expected to make appearances in Asia on behalf of Dunkin’ Brands Inc.
In a statement released by the 27-year-old he expressed his excitement in joining the Dunkin’ Brands team. “I’m really excited about partnering with Dunkin’ Brands and connecting with the huge community of basketball fans,” James said.
Nigel Travis, chief executive for the Dunkin’s brand expressed to reporters in Singapore that the new James deal “is Asia focused and reflects our commitment to Asia,” Travis said to reporters. “Lebron has a strong commitment to building his relationship in Asia so he’s definitely planning multiple trips to Asia the off season this year.”
James is currently a starting forward for the Miami Heat and is in his ninth season with the NBA, since being selected number one draft pick in 2003 by the Cavaliers. –Johnathan Cruse
