Ledisi is back and she’s feeling more elevated than ever. At least, that’s what we gather from listening to her new feel-good track, “High.” The songbird recently dropped the single on May 12, and it definitely leaves a sweet taste in fans’ mouths.
The 4-minute song leads in with the sound off of horns, before unravelling into powerful vocals and an uptempo beat. She seems to be dismissing the hard times and somber feelings in order to find her inner peace and happiness. “Kinda over all he hard times I’ve been through (Love brought me to you) / And I kinda feel loose / My heart I choose / My heart been broke down in the dirt and I finally see blue / Raised hands feel blessed / I ain’t worried ’bout the stress,” she sings with bravado.
Ledisi’s latest song release is in preparation for her forthcoming tour. Earlier in the year, it was announced that the Grammy-nominated singer would be joining Maxwell on his 18-stop blackSummers Tour. The tour will reportedly kick off on May 23, in Nashville and make stops in Atlantic City, Baton Rouge, and Newark, before concluding its run in San Diego on June 23.
