Earlier this week, rapper Lil Boosie announced that he was seeking treatment after being diagnosed with kidney cancer. The Baton Rouge native said his surgery was planned for Tuesday (Dec. 8), and now reports reveal that he’s in recovery after the extensive operation.
According to TMZ, the “Set It Off” rapper underwent an intensive surgery called nephrectomy. The procedure prompted doctors to remove half of one of Boosie’s kidneys. The 33-year-old artist said his body is still weak, but according to sources he’s optimistic about his recovery.
In November, Boosie broke the news to his followers on Instagram, asking for their prayers and support. “I need all my fans to pray for me,” he wrote. “Doctor just told me I have cancer on my kidneys prayer is power that’s why I’m letting the world know prayfaboosie.”
The news of Boosie’s health concern followed the release of his sixth studio album, Touch Down 2 Cause Hell. It debuted at the No.3 on the Billboard 200, and featured guest spots from Keyshia Cole, Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan and Rick Ross.
