Lil Boosie got candid with Revolt TV about his kidney cancer diagnosis in a recent interview, released on Wednesday (Jan. 6). The rapper had half of his kidney removed after an extensive operation in December, and has been undergoing treatment for the disease ever since.
“Man, I got an MRI, that motherf**ker came back like, ‘We found something on your kidney’” the “Set It Off” rapper recollects in the clip. “‘You know you got cancer’ and that’s when they told me. That was the first time I found that out.”
Despite the diagnosis, Boosie’s positive spirits in the face of adversity has helped him cope with the news. It has even helped him write more music, like his recently released album, In My Feelings (Goin’ Thru It).
“That’s part of me with my music, that’s what probably will never get me to fall off, because I keep going through stuff and I keep talking about it.”
The minute-long clip ends with Boosie promising that this is not the end for him, but a new beginning for his music and a fresh outlook on life.
“I know I got a million fans, I’ll get a million prayers. Whatever helps.”
Stay strong, Boosie. Watch the clip and listen to his song “Cancer” below.
