On Friday evening (Sept. 4), a 25-year-old man was shot outside of the Theater of Living Arts (TLA) in Philadelphia just before Lil’ Durk was scheduled to perform at the popular venue. He was struck in the abdomen and later pronounced dead at the city’s Hahnemann University Hospital.
While the victim of the deadly shooting remains unidentified, police have divulged that a scuffle took place outside of TLA just before gunfire rang out. Witnesses say they heard three shots before the man was found on the ground bleeding thereafter, NBC Philadelphia reports. The suspected gunman attempted to flee the scene in a limo, before officers stopped the vehicle on Christopher Columbus Boulevard. Three men were taken into custody to be questioned by homicide detectives.
Lil’ Durk’s tour bus was also struck by gunfire during the melee, but police have not connected the rapper to the shooting. His scheduled performance was cancelled following the shooting, and the rapper has not made a statement regarding the incident. Several of the hundreds of people at the scene posted social media footage of the aftermath:
