Lil Durk’s from the mud story is an inspiring one. Hailing from the violent south side of Chicago — Englewood — the OTF shot caller credits his rough upbringing as motivation to be successful in the rap game.
Recently, Durk linked with Complex’s The Neighborhood series for a tour through his old hood.
The Englewood rapper takes viewers deep into his ‘hood for a look at the blocks that raised him, and the dilapidated three bedroom home of his grandmother’s which is where Durk was raised.
“We came from nothing really. One house. Ten people. Even days the lights was off. The worst days was not eating. Surviving off rice and toast,” Durk said.
