Lil Duval had the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards jumping until its closing moments. Bringing the best musical set of the night, Duval brought some long-needed energy to the Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater stage with his live performance of “Smile (Living My Best Life).”
Beginning with a pre-recorded video clip between the comedian and rap OG Snoop Dogg, Snoop commends Duval for his viral success, asking him what he plans to do next. Answering in song, Duval had a simple answer– live his best life.
Appearing with his personal hype squad, the feel-good, shoulder-jerking performance kicks off, with Duval at center stage. “I’m living my best life, ain’t goin’ back and forth with you ni**as,” he chants before Snoop takes his verse from the jumbo screen.
While bouncing and bopping around on stage, Lil Duval contagiously embodied black boy joy, inviting Ball Greezy on stage to spit his verse and Shiggy to do (some) come comical dance.
Taking to Instagram after the show, Shiggy simultaneously thanked Duval for bringing him out and warned him for his actions. “LIVING MY BEST LIFE And Yo @lilduval I Really Appreciate You Bringing Me Out On Stage But Next Time Let Me Finish My Whole Routine Nigga Bumped Me When I Was About To Hit Em With The Shoulders,” he wrote.
Delivering a lit performance from start to finish, it’s fair to say that Lil Duval shut down the Tuesday night (Oct. 16) award show, reminding fans to stay paid and remain unbothered.
