Lil Mama is the latest artist to be inspired by Rihanna’s “Work.”
Dropping a remix video to the pop star’s latest colossal No. 1 single, the Brooklyn rapstress threw a basement party of her own, complete with her own verses on the Boi-1da dancehall backdrop. Taking a cue from the colorful lighting from Ri-Ri’s visuals, Lil Mama puts a spin on things with a choreographed dance routine (Milly Rock included), new bars, and a sung bridge. Clad in a studded leather jacket and a white mesh dress, she warns, “2016, got a lot of music dropping.”
Rihanna and Drake’s Midas touch record has churned out remixes from the likes of Lil Mama and A$AP Ferg, as well as a dance video from Keke Palmer, and a few social media clips from Gabrielle Union, Teyana Taylor and Elle Varner. Since its Feb 22 premiere, the two part visual, featuring a steamy surprise from director Tim Erem, has pulled in over 80 million views. The duo also took the hit track to the stage at the 2016 BRIT Awards.
