Not so fast- Lil Pump will not be speaking at Harvard University‘s 2019 commencement ceremony, or any other official University events, per a statement from the school. The real commencement speaker will be the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel.
“The only thing we are aware of that [Pump] is doing a live interview with WHRB Harvard Radio this Thursday (Feb. 28) and is taking questions from audience/listeners,” the Ivy League school said in a statement sent to Consequence Of Sound. “That, though, is a Harvard Radio student event, not a Harvard University event.”
A press release sent from Pump’s label Warner Bros. earlier this week (Feb. 25) read that the Harverd Dropout MC would be giving the graduating students some words of wisdom. It appeared to have been official news, as the school’s WHRB Harvard Radio seemed to have confirmed the news at the time.
“You don’t gotta graduate from Harvard to do this speech,” the rapper, who is well-known for his trolling abilities, said in a statement. “I dropped out, so they called me like they called the guy that made Windows and PCs and sh*t before I was born. You just need a cap and gown, which I got. When I found out, I was happy to give everyone a lesson. I’m all about the youth. Yes, they are the future. This is a preview of my speech, one word: ESSKEETIT!!!!!!”
I WILL BE IN HARVERD NEXT WEEK TO GIVE THE Commencement SPEACH
