Following a cryptic tweet about possibly retiring, Lil Wayne turns the page on “Grateful,” featuring Young Money rapper Gudda Gudda. Weezy released the new track via Tidal Friday (Sept. 9) and again addresses his beef with Cash Money Records.
Unlike some his more blatant disses towards Birdman and the label he once called home, “Grateful” finds Tunechi on the brink of a new chapter. “Time to grind,” he raps. “No more CMB.”
In the same verse Wayne adds, “I been working hard for no prize, I’m still grateful though,” but it’s still “f*ck Cash Money” as far as he’s concerned.
“You don’t see Stunna right next to me, and I won’t see Stunna write checks to me/They can’t put no more Weezy Baby out/That’s that Cash Money vasectomy/I still got love for my enemies, ‘cause I know it’s tough to be interesting/ I know it tough to be anything. Be grateful.”
