
Lil Wayne became a valued member of hip-hop at the age of nine and has created a discography that is nearly untouchable. As fans wait for the highly anticipated Tha Carter V, they were given another reason to celebrate the genius that is Tunechi.
In his 25-year long career, Wayne will receive the “I Am Hip Hop” Award at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards. The New Orleans native has distinguished himself in hip-hop by amassing five Grammy Awards and countless number one singles and albums.
The BET Hip Hop Awards will take place at Florida’s The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater on Oct. 6, and will air October 16. Drake, who is signed to Weezy’s Young Money imprint, has an outstanding 11 nominations, with Cardi B trailing close behind with 10.
This year marks itself as a big one for Lil Wayne. Not only is he receiving an honor at the showcase, the “How To Love” rapper has a brand new album on the way, and has become the sole owner of Young Money.
Wayne stands among hip-hop powerhouses like MC. Lyte, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, and Doug.E Fresh to receive this same honor.
