Is Lil Wayne on the move?
While his legal battle with Birdman doesn’t look like it’s over yet, the New Orleans native has decided to expand his affiliation with Jay Z.
The 34-year-old rapper announced that he’s a member of team Roc Nation during a concert at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania Monday (April 10) night.
“Is it cool if I just say it? It’s the Roc,” Weezy said to the screaming crowd. “You know I’m apart of that team now,” he continued while throwing up the Roc’s diamond symbol.
“We’ll talk about that later,” he promised.
The announcement was similar to a 2015 concert, when Wayne told an audience that he “signed with Jay Z.” Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, later clarified that his client had joined Tidal.
As for his new potential deal with Hov, Wayne hinted at signing with the Roc in January. Joining the successful imprint would add the Young Money front man to a roster of fellow rappers including, Big Sean, Jay Electronica, Meek Mill, Fabulous, Vic Mensa, and T.I.
Although Roc Nation has yet to release a statement on Wayne’s reported affiliation (and he’s not listed on the company website), the Grammy winner certainly seems to be ready for a fresh start.
