Childish Gambino is, unfortunately, dropping out of his headlining performance at the Austin City Limits Festival in October 2018 after suffering a foot injury earlier this month. While fans are wishing the rapper a speedy recovery, they will be happy to know that he will be replaced with an equally as talented performer. Lil Wayne will step in for Gambino at the two-day event.
ACL organizers announced the swap on Thursday (Sept. 27) on Twitter. “We’re celebrating Lil Wayne’s birthday today in the best way possible. We’re adding him to the Saturday, Weekend 2 #ACLFest Lineup,” the statement reads.
Wayne will join an impressive lineup, including appearances by Travis Scott, Janelle Monae, Vince Staples, Brockhampton, Smino, and many more.
Childish Gambino has been forced to postpone his tour due to injury and will not be appearing at #ACLFest. Justice and Metallica will headline both Saturdays, Travis Scott and Arctic Monkeys will headline both Sundays. Sched info: https://t.co/o4UPtXyO1z

As previously reported, Gambino was forced to postpone his final tour as well as other live appearances after he injured his foot during one of his performance on his This Is America trek around North America. The exact cause is unclear, however.
Nevertheless, Lil Wayne is the perfect artist to replace Gambino. Not only did he just celebrate his 36th year of life, but the rapper just released his highly-anticipated album, Tha Carter V on Friday (Sept. 28). The 24-track album features appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, and many more.
The first week of Austin City Limits Festival will kick off on Oct. 5 and conclude on Oct. 7, in Zilker Park. Its second week will begin on Oct. 12, ending on Oct. 14. Check out the full lineup below.
