
Although just 18 years old, Lil Yachty is no fool, and proved he’s just as robust in common sense as he is in lyrical ability. The Atlanta native stopped by Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning to talk about a few things and formally introduce himself to the people of the Big Apple.

Sporting a New World Order T-shirt and his trademark fire-engine red hair, Yachty swiftly dodged questions from Darden and crew about how much money he has in the bank. Although admitting to charging $3,500 for a guest verse, Lil Boat stopped just short of explaining who he’ll lend his 16’s to.
The recently signed artist (Quality Control Music) expanded upon a variety of topics ranging from his humble beginnings, and why he feels his fanbase is ironically not as strong in his hometown. The Yacht Club member also discussed his nautical obsession and his influences, which range from Coldplay’s Chris Martin to Kid Cudi and Andre 3000, who Peter Rosenberg pointed out he actually sounds like.
Yet when asked if he takes Hip Hop seriously, the MC gave an eyebrow raising response.
“I honestly don’t. I’m an artist. I’m not a rock star. You would think I’m a rock star by my shows, but I don’t want it that way.”
The “1 night” rapper, who’s father and grandfather were both photographers, dropped his first project Lil Boat in March which included appearances from Young Thug and Quavo. Peep the interview below in which he explains why he’s an artist, and just how crazy his show’s can get.
