“I ain’t made at ya young king/ This unsung song is haunted,” Nas kicks off on his verse. Cole dropped the original tune, about disappointing his idol, on his Born Sinner LP this week. He was inspired to write the track after No I.D. told him Nas didn’t fancy “Work Out,” the lead single off his debut Cole World: The Sideline Story.
They’ve buried the hatchet since and Nas takes his time to do some epic storytelling about how, in fact, Cole has made him quite proud. But you know what they say, “Long live the idols, may they never be your rivals…”
Man, it’s times like these where we are reminded why hip-hop is the reason we get out of bed every morning.
