The family of Eric Garner continues to echo the father’s final words “I Can’t Breathe” on a new track released just a week before the two-year anniversary of his death.
With vocals by Garner’s sister Ellisha and bars by brother Steven Flagg, the track calls for justice in the today’s world of racial tension and broken police practices.
Flagg spits, “If I lose my car, I can get another one, lose my house, I can get another one, lose my mind, I’ll create another one. They took my brother, I can never get another one,” a clear and painful ode to Garner.
In truth, the words couldn’t be more real in times like these. It’s also a positive step towards raising awareness and restoration for the hearts and minds that have been exposed to these traumatic happenings.
