Not too long ago, Lupe Fiasco promised fans three new albums, Drogas, Skulls, and Roy, and now it looks likes he’s following through on that promise. The Chicago rapper put things into motion, releasing the upcoming single, “Conversation #1.”
The forthcoming track will appear on Drogas, the first of the trilogy albums, and according to the “Superstar” lyricist, the single is the first of a series. On the 10-minute “Conversation” Lupe acts as a reporter speaking with members of a group called, L.O.T.U.S (Lifting Ourselves Through US). Their discussion tackles music that carries derogatory language and messages, and what effect it has on the kids who listen to it. The dialogue also takes a step further, suggesting possible plans of action to reverse this negative outcome and promote a positive change in music culture.
This may not have been the tune fans were searching for, but this motivational conversation may be the beginning to a powerful series. Although Lupe revealed the artwork for Drogas earlier in January 2016, he has yet to release the track list. Fans will just have to stay tuned for a continuation of the conversation. But in the meantime, check out “Conversation #1” below.
