Mac had been battling substance abuse and addiction for years. He’s referenced his issues in his music throughout his career.
Just one month before his death, Mac dropped his final studio album, Swimming. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 1 shortly after his death. Friends, family, and fans held a benefit concert entitled “Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life” last week, featuring performances from Vince Staples, Ty Dolla $ign, and more.
