Just a few days before the release of Mac Miller‘s Swimming album, the Pittsburgh native unloads a new freestyle titled, “Inertia,” which comes with an in-studio video.
In the visual, we see Mac playing around on a keyboard as he prepares to start recording. After finding a groove, Mac begins to attack the mic: “I been a God way before synagogue/liquor drops used to hit the spot like a cinderblock/This is not what you wanted, but it’s what you got,” spits the Pittsburgh rhymer. He produced the beat himself.
Throughout the rest of the freestyle Mac Miller drops off more mellow, but hard-hitting bars as he gives fans a potential sneak peak of what they can expect from his new LP.
This release comes just a little over a week after Mac spoke on his split from Ariana Grande, who is now engaged to comedian and actor Pete Davidson.
“It’s strange. Like, the whole thing is a little strange but it’s not negative,” Miller said in an interview with Beats 1 Radio’s Zane Lowe. “It’s just a part of something that’s going to continue to help make me who I am. You know, it’s all positive energy. I am happy for her and moving forward with her life just as I’m sure she is with me.”
