While the direct cause of Mac Miller’s death won’t be known for weeks, a new report claims to add more context to the final hours of his life. According to TMZ, Miller had been dead for several hours before he was discovered unresponsive inside his Southern California home on Sept. 7.
The night before his death from a suspected drug overdose, Miller reportedly hosted a party at his house where friends hung around until the early hours of the following morning. The details behind the party are unclear but could potentially lead to more information regarding Miller’s death, the outlet reports.
An unknown person called 911 after finding Miller, 26, unconscious in his home at around noon local time. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after Miller’s toxicology reports come back, in 4-6 weeks.
Police allegedly found a “tiny amount” of an unknown white substance in Miller’s home, which the site claims may have been scrubbed clean before authorities arrived.
Earlier in the week, thousands of fans gathered for a candlelight vigil at Blue Slide Park, the Pittsburgh playground that inspired the title of Miller’s debut album. Miller’s family is expected to hold a private Jewish funeral for the rapper at a later date.
