The Donald J. Trump collection stocked racks at Macy’s with office wear since 2004. But after Trump’s recent racist remarks, the department store no longer wants any ties with him – silk or business.
In a statement, Macy’s said Trump’s recent controversial headlines have led them to end their business relationship. “We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico,” the company said. “We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation.”

Trump later responded in his own explanation. “I have decided to terminate my relationship with Macy’s because of the pressure being put on them by outside sources,” he said.
Trump made his mission to “Make America Great Again” known as a Republican candidate for president with a strong resistance against illegal immigration and promotion of domestic trade. Critics, business partners, and Mexican-American artist Becky G, however, found his views far from great. Trump said in a campaign speech, “[Mexicans] are bringing drugs, they are bringing crime, they’re rapists.” On Twitter, his racist rants only continued.
For all of those who want to #MakeAmericaGreatAgain, boycott @Macys. They are weak on border security & stopping illegal immigration.

NBC fired back at his statements by replacing the Celebrity Apprentice host and refusing to air Trump’s Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. Univision banned the shows from airing too. Trump’s comments about Mexico continued, this time directed at his opponents. He sent a letter to NBC and Univision reading, “Please congratulate your Mexican Government officials for having made such outstanding trade deals with the United States. However, inform them that should I become President, those days are over.”
Executive VP of Media Matters Angelo Carusone created a Move.org petition after noticing Trump’s controversial views on race, women, global warming, and the economy. About 730,000 people signed it, urging Macy’s to become a former affiliate of mogul. Executives at the department store listened and announced their split with Trump (July 1).
