Following the damage of Hurricane Sandy, New York City needed to boost their spirits this Halloween, and raise a few too. For techno lovers, Marco Carola is a god amongst mere mortals and Sandy was no match for his musical magic. Carola’s much-anticipated Halloween party at Cipriani on Wall Street had the whole club community amped since it’s announcement in early September.
Although most major airports were closed and Cipriani on Wall Street was inaccessible, Marco made it to NYC and the party found a new home at it’s 42nd street outpost, which usually serves as black tie event banquet hall.
Packed with proper sound and A-lister attendees such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Jay Z, Jonah Hill and Baron Davis, this music marathon is just what the doctor ordered to lift New York’s spirits. Opening the room was one of Provocateur’s resident DJs, Vito. Creating an atmosphere comparable to that of Ibiza, the NYC local left the crowd yearning for more. Playing tracks such as Shlomi Aber’s remix of ‘Scene’ and Nic Fanciulli’s ‘Movin On’, Vito provided enough groove to get the crowd going and ready for Carola’s onslaught.
At 2 a.m. the Italian DJ Legend entered the booth and began an escapade that would leave party people astounded. Weaving in and out of powerful drops and groovy bass lines, Marco hit NYC harder than a storm (No pun intended). Renowned for his marathon sets, Carola refused to get off until the wee hours of the morning. Playing tracks such as Solumun’s remix of ‘Around’ and Nathan Barato’s ‘Hard Werq’, the Italian offered up a set not easily found this side of the pond. Not playing his final track until close to 6:30 AM, Carola signed off with the 80’s mega hit ‘Need You Tonight’ from Inxs.
