In tandem with performing songs on tour off her latest studio album Caution, Mariah Carey is interested in switching up her setlist to incorporate melodies from her past. During an interview on Watch What Happens Live, the award-winning singer revealed she might perform a medley of songs from the Glitter soundtrack.
The notion arose when MC’s fans boosted the social media tag #JusticeForGlitter. The 2001 soundscape found a new claim to fame when its presence recently appeared on the iTunes top ten roster. The moment inspired Carey to possibly perform some of its standout melodies on tour.
In a past interview with MTV News, Carey discussed her hopes for the soundtrack’s reception and how she crafted certain songs to transport moviegoers to a specific moment in time. The project received production credits from Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, DJ Clue, and Clark Kent.
“When you see the movie, you’re gonna see the uptempo songs and the songs that are remakes in there as they would have sounded in the 80s,” she said. “But the album is the way that I would make the record now, and the ballads can stand on their own as songs from a Mariah Carey album.”
