Mariah Carey has built a career off her angelic voice and powerful love ballads, but this week (Sept. 13), the “Touch My Body” singer released a sassy single telling her ex-lovers to leave her be–and a sultry video that matches her new energy.
The spicy visuals show a lonely Carey, fed up and demanding respect. “Stop telling me these lies when you’re bluffing,” she sings as she holds a glass of red wine. The New York native is shown sitting alone in different parts on an empty home, showing off her body in a smoldering lingerie set and fishnet stockings. Complete with beats from producer Nineteen85 (Drake), this three-minute bop definitely adds spice to Mariah Carey’s ever-growing discography.
“GTFO” is a buzz track ahead of Carey’s upcoming 15th album, which has yet to receive an official title. The album’s first official single, “With You,” is slated for an Oct. 5 release.
After her disastrous performance on the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve stage in 2016, some have started to doubt Carey’s ability to sing and perform. Her upcoming work may prove her naysayers wrong and help a new audience see her in a different light.
