Mariah Carey wowed the American Music Awards audience on Tuesday (Oct. 9) with her live performance of “With You.”
The mother-of-two appeared onstage wearing a beautiful hot pink gown, accompanied by male dancers at the edge of her feet in a large silk train that unfurls like a rose. The dancers move graciously to the slow tempo beat of the unhurried jam. Wearing her long classic blond hair, the singer once again reminded spectators why she is one of the greatest vocalists of all-time with her incredible runs near the song’s finale.
Tuesday’s performance marks Carey’s first time back on the AMAs stage in a decade. And of course, Stan Twitter couldn’t get enough of the Long Island pop diva.
“With You” is the kickoff single from her new album due out in stores later this year. Carey told PEOPLE, “I’ve been working on my new album for a while. This is a labor of love, and I’m really excited. This is me at this moment in my life being able to express myself as a writer and a singer. I’m just really in a good place.”
With the title of being the solo artist with most No. 1s in America — 18 to be exact — as well as being honored by the AMAs with the Illustrious Award of Achievement in 2000 and 2008, Carey isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The R&B diva will also extend her Las Vegas residency titled “The Butterfly Returns” at Caesars Palace in February 2019.
