Mary J Blige never seemed like a passive woman, so her not allowing her husband of eleven years Kendu Issacs to have female friends doesn’t is not surprise. In a recent interview with Stella Magazine, she discussed secrets that allowed her and Issacs to have a successful transition from manager-employee to husband and wife. And banishing friends of the opposite sex was one them.
“All females for me, all guys for him. There’s none of that ‘Oh, that’s my female friend,’ ‘Oh that’s my guy friend.’ No. Not in a marriage. I’ve never seen that work,”” she said.

The change must be a good thing, as Kendu was encouraged Blige through her post-K-Ci Hailey years, and helped her get clean with drugs and alcohol. Marriage has changed Blige for the better she says, and although she express how motherhood wasn’t her thing, she claims that her stepchildren have brought joy into her life.
