A standout presence in the R&B/hip-hop fusion scene, Masego puts an unabashedly sultry-smooth spin on today’s musical fabric. Taking time to fine tune his “TrapHouseJazz” sound since 2015 saw the release of The Pink Polo EP, Masego is ready to display his genre-defiant style with his full-length album debut, Lady Lady.
Hitting shelves Sept. 7, Lady Lady will showcase this musical chameleon’s unique intersection of soul, trap, R&B, jazz, rap, and dance as he reconciles with heartbreak past. At its core, the 13-track project will center on the Virginia-bred musician’s experiences with women as a swooning ladies man and jazz heartthrob, moving seamlessly between singing, rapping, and soloing on the saxophone.
Led by the title track “Lady Lady,” the album is ultimately a coming-of-age record set to showcase all sides of Sego’s musical personality: funny, flirty, wide-eyed, mysterious, and moody. Following a run of summer amphitheater dates supporting Leon Bridges, Masego will hit the road for a headlining tour this fall.
