Following a month after Matt Barnes and Derek Fisher’s reported altercation, one of the league’s members is speaking out.
Barnes, who revealed his thoughts on the situation with Los Angeles Times writer Ben Bolch, said that Fisher wanted to notify the authorities of what transpired instead of dealing with matters internally. “We’re two grown men who should have handled two grown men’s business, but he wanted to run and tell the cops & NBA,” he said. “The New York Post is run by the New York Knicks, so it’s obviously a way of trying to make me look like the bad guy.”

The rift reportedly began when Barnes caught wind of a budding romance between his ex-wife Gloria Govan and Fisher. The pro-athlete then appeared at Govan’s home, where Fisher was also located, and reportedly got into a physical match with the New York Knicks’ coach. However, no charges were made.
