As a solo artist and through collaborations with vanguards like DJ/Rupture, Brooklyn-based Matt Shadetek has been twisting beats into gnarly shapes that still fly for a few years now. For his latest rap-leaning album The Empire Never Ended, Shadetek teamed up with H-Town upstart and Diplo cohort, Riff Raff, the “Andy Kauffman of Rap” (as Matt calls him) and self-proclaimed inspiration for James Franco’s character in cinematic provocateur Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers”. The result is the squelchy, pitch down slow-burner, “Bout it Girl”.
Stream both “Bout It Girl” and Matt’s white-label remix of French Montana & Waka Flocka’s “Chopper Down”, a VIBE exclusive. The Empire Never Ended is out now of Shadetek’s own Dutty Artz label.
