Meek Mill spoke to Vogue about his progress since his incarceration, and also revealed that his upcoming album will be released at the end of the month.
Fans can expect to hear the album in full on Nov. 30; a title has not been announced. He says that the upcoming LP will tackle his experiences “and the issues of social justice.”
“It’s a dark shadow over the top of your head on a daily basis,” the Philly MC said in the interview regarding probation. He was released from jail in April after serving more than four months of a two to four year-sentence for a probation violation.
Elsewhere in the interview, Meek discusses the issues with prison, and how it changes people who are there.
“Definitely after this last sentence, I felt different when I came home from prison,” he says of his experiences behind bars. Because of his high-profile status, Meek had to spend 23 hours a day in solitary confinement, and he says he believes he suffers from PTSD.
“I used to call my lawyer to call me, on like official visits, just so I could get out of the cell,” he continues. “I couldn’t go to my grandma’s funeral, and see my grandma for the last time, because of not committing a crime. That’s trauma, basically.”
