Meek Mill’s June/July cover story for The Fader sheds a bit more light on his relationship with Nicki Minaj. While the couple was rumored to be engaged after the Young Money rapstress shared a photo of a colossal ring gifted to her by her MMG beau, Meek confirmed that the two are not planning on tying the knot.
“It’s definitely real,” he said. “But it ain’t really time to get married yet. We’re still learning each other, feeling each other out.”

Detailing a night in the studio when the two “argue gently” over what should be Meek Mill’s next single, the story gives readers a behind-the-scenes description of how they interact. Attempting to sway her boyfriend with her proven expertise in the area of singles and radio plays, Nicki rallies for a track called “All Eyes On You,” while Meek wants to go with a track titled “Bad,” a song he believes could be a pop hit. In the end, Nicki calls for a vote in the room, and Meek remains unconvinced.
But there is one person who still believes Omeeka is headed down the aisle: T.I. After congratulating Meek on his engagement and hearing his reply, “I ain’t engaged,” the Grand hustle boss dropped a bit of wisdom on his unsuspecting friend.
“You never asked her, ‘Will you be my girlfriend?’ But she is your girlfriend,” he told Meek. “You may not have asked her, ‘Will you marry me?’ But you are engaged.”
