After a harrowed 2015, it looks like there is finally a rainbow in sight for Meek Mill. The embattled rapper will not face jail time for violating his probation, according to ABC 6. Instead, the Philly rapper will serve a minimum of three months house arrest and an additional six more years of probation. House arrest will begin on March 1st.
The “Problem” spitter will not be able to perform or work (including releasing new material) for the next three months and will only be allowed to leave the house to perform community service for adult groups, not the youth. His parole was violated due to unapproved travel out of the area for concerts and appearances with his girlfriend, Nicki Minaj, who was present at today’s hearing in the City of Brotherly Love. Reports say that the judge spoke to Meek and Minaj privately, and offered helpful ways in which the Dreamchasers MC can stay out of trouble.
This was not an easy road for Meek. Rumors swirled that his probation officer had it out for him, which left him scrambling to find another. The probation hearing also reportedly cost him a film role, and he also had to truly convince the judge and jury that he was still growing as a person despite some of his shortcomings.
“I’m not a gangsta,” he said during a court appearance a few months back. “I’m not a criminal. I have my queen, Nicki now. I’m trying to do better and feel like I can be the best rapper out there.”
