Meek Mill’s return to the music spotlight begins with the release of his DC4 project, which dropped today (Oct. 28). And to keep the momentum going, the Philly native conducted a seemingly candid interview with popular podcast host, TaxStone.
The full discussion will be released on Monday (Oct. 31), but spectators received a taste of what to expect, beginning with Meek’s take on the diss track heard around the world from Drake, “Back To Back.”
“I ain’t think it was no sh*t that people was gonna be like ‘you got killed,'” the “Pray For ‘Em” rapper states. “I thought it was hot. When we shoot at ni**as, you gotta shoot a ni**a through the heart. When you wake up in the mirror, you looking in the mirror, you hearing what the ni**a told you, that’s some sh*t about yourself that you can’t even deal with. That’s how we battle where we come from.”
The MMG cohort was later asked why he didn’t immediately respond to Drake’s lyrical jab, but that part of the interview will be reserved once the full conversation premieres at the top of next week.
“Back To Back” stunned a few people even more after it was nominated for a Grammy under the Best Rap Performance category. It lost to Kendrick Lamar’s uplifting anthem, “Alright.”
