On Feb. 3, rapper 21 Savage was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is now possibly facing deportation. Since his detainment, 21 has received an outpour of support from fellow rappers such as Cardi B, Wale, and J. Cole. Producer Metro Boomin is the most recent to show his support to the “a lot” rapper and he did it on national television.
Metro Boomin alongside “Top Off” rapper Gunna, appeared on the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Space Cadets.” Metro Boomin wore an all-white outfit with a jacket that reads “Free 21 Savage” on the back. The St. Louis native spent the majority of the show with his back turned as he “orchestrated” the band decked out in space gear, which served as an opportunity to raise awareness on 21’s matter.
This support for 21 Savage comes after it was reported by the rapper’s co-manager, Justin “Meezy” Williams, that the Recording Academy refused to release the rapper’s tickets to his mother.
