Wade Robson and James Safechuck, two men who have accused the late-Michael Jackson of sexual abuse, spoke to CBS This Morning about the alleged abuse in detail. The men are the subject of an upcoming HBO Documentary, Leaving Neverland.
“I find it hard to believe that he had boys around for any other reason than to sexually abuse them,” says dancer/choreographer Robson of Jackson. During the interview, both he and Safechuck said at first, they both felt “lucky” to be hanging around the King Of Pop. Later, however, they discuss their alleged abuse in graphic detail, stating that they believe they were being “groomed” for sex.
“Michael’s training of me to testify began the first night that he started abusing me,” Robson continued. “In the sense that you know, that right away, after the first kind of experience of sexual abuse, he started telling me that if anybody…if anybody else ever finds out, we’ll both go to jail, both of our lives would be over.”
“It’s in the context of a loving, close relationship so … there’s no alarm bells going off in your head or any thoughts like that,” Safecheck says. “Really, it’s just, ‘I love this person and we’re trying to make each other happy.’ And he said I was his first. But even as a kid, you don’t even know what that means. You don’t — you don’t even question it further than that.”
Robson also admits regret for testifying on Jackson’s behalf during his high-profile sexual molestation case. Oprah Winfrey will reportedly interview the two men for a one-hour special, which will air on HBO and OWN immediately following Monday’s airing of Leaving Neverland. The two men are reportedly not being paid for appearing in the doc, they just want to get their stories out.
