Michael Jackson‘s 1982 record Thriller spawned countless hits such as “Billie Jean” “Beat It” and the album’s title track. The nine-track LP, four of which Jackson wrote himself, went onto win countless Grammy and American Music Awards and also become a classic record-breaking album.
For as long as some of you reading this have been alive, Thriller has been the best selling album of U.S History. As of Monday (Aug. 20) however, The Eagles’ Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 has dethroned the King of Pop for the best selling album of all time.
According to the Associated Press, The Recording Academy revealed The Eagles’ album is now 38X platinum, and Jackson’s Thriller is 33X times platinum.
“We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. It’s been quite a ride,” Don Henley said in a statement.
